- In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter '/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components' into the Go to Folder field, then click Go.
- You can also check the Library in your Home folder. In the Finder choose Go > Go to Folder, enter '~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components' into the Go to Folder field, then click Go.

Preferences for Plug-in Windows Multiple Windows / Auto Hide.
Just the other day I was using my mastering rack on a track and I wanted to be able to see the stereo imaging display in the rack, which was on the master channel, while I adjusted some things on another channel. I wanted to see how the stereo field was being effected by the changes I was making to that particular audio channel.
The problem was when I opened the plug-in window for the flux stereo imaging tool that was inside my rack on the master and then clicked the audio channel that I wanted to manipulate the plug-in window would close. I wanted to be able to keep it open. Luckily for me, once again, the good people over at Ableton HQ were 5,000 steps ahead of me.
In the preferences menu, under “Look & Feel” you will find the “Plug-in Windows” options. By default all three options are turned on. The one we are concerned with for this tutorial is the second one. “Auto-Hide Plug-in Windows”. By turning this off we can keep the plug in windows open all the time, no matter which track we are working with.
I think its best that it is set up to auto-hide. I hadn’t run into many situations in which I need to view a window while working on a different track. But, I am glad I figured it out. Cue the “the more you know” music and graphics!
Check out the video tutorial to see the process and listen to me yammer on about this and that. Also, don’t forget to check out that mastering rack 😉
